The United States government has officially denied claims that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) provided funding to Boko Haram or any other terrorist organizations.
The rebuttal comes after a U.S. congressman alleged that USAID had links to terrorist financing in Nigeria and other parts of Africa.
In a statement, the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to counterterrorism efforts and humanitarian aid, emphasizing that all U.S. assistance is strictly monitored and directed toward legitimate humanitarian and development projects.

This clarification follows growing concerns over foreign aid accountability in conflict zones. The U.S. government has reiterated its stance against terrorism financing and pledged continued support for Nigeria’s fight against Boko Haram and other extremist groups.
