Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr has made history by becoming the first female artist in 16 years to win the MOBO Best African Music Act award.
The prestigious UK-based MOBO Awards, which celebrate music of Black origin, honored the “Rush” hitmaker for her exceptional contributions to African music.
Ayra Starr’s victory marks a major milestone for female representation in the African music scene. The last woman to win the award was Nigeria’s Nneka in 2009.
