In a significant milestone for Nigerian higher education, Wigwe University officially welcomes its first cohort of students today, November 14, 2024, at a matriculation ceremony held at the Herbert Wigwe Auditorium on its Isiokpo campus in Rivers State.
The event symbolizes the university’s ambitious mission to mold future African leaders and innovators, with 120 pioneering students embarking on their academic journey.
Key dignitaries, including the Emir of Kano, His Highness Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, will honor the ceremony. The Emir will deliver the keynote address, highlighting the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and the unique role these inaugural students will play in the university’s vision.
“These students will embody Wigwe University’s mission to foster fearless, innovative, and thoughtful leadership across Africa,” stated Dr. Sam Dede, Chairman of the Matriculation Ceremony Committee.
The university, celebrated for its cutting-edge approach to education, aims to be a catalyst for positive transformation on the continent. The first set of students, paying between ₦9.6 million and ₦11.99 million per session depending on their chosen faculties, marks Wigwe University as one of the most exclusive institutions in the nation.
