VFS Global, in partnership with the Embassy of Japan in Nigeria, has officially launched Japan visa application services for Nigerian residents. The newly established Japan Visa Application Centres in Abuja and Lagos commenced operations on March 3, 2025, marking a significant improvement in the visa processing experience for Nigerians.
The centres are designed to handle document submissions for both short-term and long-term Japan visas by appointment. In addition to the standard services, VFS Global offers a range of optional conveniences, including a Premium Lounge for personalized assistance, courier services for document delivery, and SMS alerts to keep applicants informed of their application status. Additional amenities, such as professional photography, photocopying, and high-quality printing services, are also available to enhance the overall experience.

Speaking on the development, Alok Singhal, Head of Sub-Saharan Africa at VFS Global, emphasized the company’s longstanding collaboration with the Government of Japan since 2010. “These centres will play a crucial role in catering to the growing demand for travel to Japan, one of the most popular destinations in the world,” he said.
The launch of these visa centres reflects VFS Global’s commitment to streamlining the visa application process and ensuring that Nigerians have access to efficient and reliable services when planning their trips to Japan. This initiative is expected to further boost international travel and strengthen bilateral ties between Nigeria and Japan.
