The Nigerian entertainment industry is mourning the loss of veteran Nollywood actor and academic, Columbus Irosanga, who passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025. His death was announced by fellow actress Hilda Dokubo via Instagram, where she expressed her grief, stating, “There can’t be a shortage of angels in heaven that the few here are called home like this na! This one is heavy on Uniport, Rivers State, Nollywood.”

Irosanga, a native of Okrika in Rivers State, was renowned for his compelling portrayals of native doctor roles in Nollywood films. Beyond his acting career, he was a senior lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Port Harcourt, where he mentored numerous aspiring actors.

His notable film credits include “Issakaba” (2003) and “7 Kilometre” (2015), where his performances left a lasting impact on audiences. Throughout his career, Irosanga received several accolades, including Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) and Best Actor in a Drama at the City People Entertainment Awards.

The cause of his death has not been publicly disclosed. Colleagues, students, and fans have taken to social media to pay tribute to the late actor, remembering him for his significant contributions to Nigerian cinema and theatre education.
