Tanzanian Foreign Minister Mahmoud Thabit Kombo has extended an invitation to Türkiye, urging its government and energy organizations to participate in a landmark project aimed at providing electricity to 300 million Africans by 2030.
This initiative, known as the Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit, was held in Dar es Salaam from January 27-28 and saw participation from nearly 20 heads of state and numerous ministers.
The summit, organized in collaboration with African nations, the World Bank, and the African Development Bank (AfDB), focused on ensuring affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy access across the continent within the next five years. Kombo emphasized the importance of international and regional collaboration, stating, “Many international and regional actors will be involved in this project. We invite the Turkish government and Turkish energy organizations to take part in the project.”
East Africa expert Fatih Ilhan highlighted Türkiye’s potential contributions, noting that Turkish firms could implement smart villages with solar energy systems, wind turbines, and various recyclable energy projects. He emphasized that Türkiye’s experience in electricity production and leadership in renewable energy serve as examples for African countries.
This collaborative effort underscores the growing diplomatic and economic ties between Tanzania and Türkiye, aiming to address the pressing issue of energy access in Africa and promote sustainable development across the continent.
