Azerbaijan and Somalia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic relations during a high-level meeting held on the sidelines of the 51st Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul.
Abdisalam Abdi Ali, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, met with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov to talk about current regional events and strengthening bilateral and multilateral collaboration. The meeting demonstrated increased political goodwill and a common vision for strategic cooperation between the two nations, according to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The need to improve political discourse was underlined by both ministers, who expressed satisfaction with the improved momentum in political relations. They talked about extending collaboration in vital areas like commerce, agriculture, green energy, aid for the needy, and education.
Minister Bayramov noted that cooperation on global issues fosters unity among the Islamic world and praised Somalia’s strong engagement in international forums like the OIC, the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and the UN.
It also recognized Somalia’s growing involvement in Azerbaijan-led development and humanitarian initiatives. Particularly emphasized were the country’s interest in Azerbaijan’s ASAN service model, a citizen-centric public service delivery system praised for its innovativeness and efficacy, and the Somali students who were getting educational scholarships.
A discussion of a variety of common objectives and priorities marked the end of the conference, reaffirming Azerbaijan and Somalia’s shared goal of constructing a future based on collaboration, growth, and diplomatic solidarity.
