Hundreds of participants concluded the three-day Human Rights Festival with an 8 km walk through Johannesburg’s CBD. The festival, held at Constitution Hill in Johannesburg, included activism, dialogue, art, culture, exhibitions, books, poetry, film, and a children’s festival.
The 2023 festival was held in March, while the 2025 festival was slated for 20-23 March. In 2023, the festival theme was “A Just and Inclusive South Africa”. Other events included a social justice walk from Stellenbosch to Bethlehem farm. The #UDHR is a global blueprint for international, national, and local laws and policies and a bedrock of the #2030Agenda for #sustainable development. The festival promotes human rights, addresses gender-based violence, and discusses climate issues.
