Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has filed a petition with the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) seeking the disbarment of Senator Ned Nwoko Imasuen, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics [[\735]], [[\737]]. The petition alleges professional misconduct and cites a previous disbarment of Senator Imasuen from the New York Bar , [[\733]].
Akpoti-Uduaghan also accuses Imasuen of contempt of court for allegedly disregarding a judicial order. The controversy arises amidst Imasuen’s role as chair of the ethics committee, which recently recommended Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension. Reports indicate Imasuen was accused of professional misconduct in the United States before returning to Nigeria and entering politics , [[\742]].
The court had found that Imasuen violated multiple professional rules, resulting in the permanent revocation of his legal license in the US . Imasuen has yet to respond to the reports of his disbarment.
