Lagos Christmas Youth Parade: Traffic Diversion Announced for December 8
The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversion on Ajose Adeogun Street, Victoria Island, for the Lagos Christmas Youth Parade scheduled for Sunday, December 8, 2024.
The parade will begin at 6:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m., according to the state Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi.
Osiyemi shared details in a statement on Monday, urging motorists to use alternative routes and remain patient throughout the event.
Traffic Diversion Routes During Lagos Christmas Youth Parade
To ensure smooth movement during the Youth Parade, traffic diversions have been implemented. Osiyemi explained:
- Motorists heading to Eko Hotel Roundabout from VCP Hotel will divert to Jubril Martins Street, turn into Muri Okunola Street, and connect Ligali Ayorinde Street before proceeding to Bishop Aboyade Cole Street and Tokunbo Ademola Street to reach their destinations.
- Traffic from Ligali Ayorinde Street heading to Eko Hotel Roundabout will reroute through Bishop Aboyade Cole Street, connect Adetokunbo Ademola Street, and continue toward desired locations.
- Vehicles moving toward Ajose Adeogun Street from Eko Hotel Roundabout will follow Adetokunbo Ademola Street, turn into Bishop Aboyade Cole Street, and proceed via Muri Okunola Street and Jubril Martins Street back to Ajose Adeogun Street.
Ensuring Seamless Traffic Flow
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will deploy officers to manage traffic flow and minimize inconveniences during the Youth Parade. Osiyemi assured motorists that every effort will focus on ensuring safety and smooth navigation throughout the event.
“Motorists must cooperate with traffic officers, adhere to directions, and remain patient,” Osiyemi urged.
The government encourages residents to plan their journeys early; otherwise, explore public transport options to avoid delays.
