The Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Limited is set to host a Space-Tech Hackathon and Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) training in Dutse, Jigawa State, from April 7 to 11, 2025. This initiative aims to equip North-West youths with advanced technological skills and enhance broadband connectivity in remote areas.
The five-day hackathon will bring together university students, local innovators, and young professionals to identify community challenges and develop satellite technology-based solutions. Participants will receive mentorship and have the opportunity to build prototype solutions addressing local issues.

In addition to the hackathon, 100 youths will undergo specialized VSAT installation training. This skill is crucial for expanding broadband access in underserved communities, aligning with NIGCOMSAT’s goal to inspire innovation, tackle community challenges, and reduce youth unemployment nationwide.
The winning team from the hackathon will secure a spot in the NIGCOMSAT Accelerator Programme Cohort 2025, providing further opportunities to refine and implement their projects.
This initiative reflects a broader commitment to bridging the digital divide in Northern Nigeria, fostering technological innovation, and empowering the next generation of tech leaders.
