Morocco’s land sector marked a major achievement in 2024, generating 9.33 billion dirhams in revenue, equivalent to approximately €855 million. This represents a notable 10 percent increase from the previous year, highlighting the effectiveness of the country’s recent land governance reforms and the rising economic activity in strategic sectors.

The impressive performance was driven by a combination of administrative modernization, digital transformation, and enhanced legal frameworks that have significantly improved land management processes.

The key factor behind the growth was the continued expansion of the land registry and the regularization of property titles, which have improved legal clarity and boosted investor confidence. The widespread digitalization of land services, including platforms such as “Mohafadati” and newly established electronic counters, has accelerated administrative procedures and enhanced public service delivery.

These platforms have not only increased efficiency but have also strengthened the legal security of property ownership, making land transactions more transparent and accessible for citizens and investors alike.

In addition, the government intensified efforts in urban mapping and rural cadaster programs, aligning with Morocco’s broader economic recovery and growing demand for land security in development zones.

The surge in land revenue is also linked to a steady rise in investment activity across key sectors such as real estate, agriculture, tourism, and renewable energy. As Morocco positions itself as a regional leader in sustainability and economic diversification, secure and well-managed land tenure remains a critical foundation for long-term growth.

A large share of the 2024 revenue will be reinvested in strengthening the sector. Planned projects include the development of advanced geographic information systems (GIS), the production of new topographic maps, and comprehensive training programs for land management professionals.
