The Moroccan folkdance festival, officially known as the 13th International Festival Entrerritmos for Folk Dance, has once again highlighted the beauty of cultural diversity.

Held annually in the coastal town of Larache since 2012, this year’s edition brought together folk troupes from 11 countries, including Iraq, Spain, Senegal, Paraguay, and the United Kingdom.

Dancers and participants used their performances to showcase heritage and foster global unity. The event, which concluded on November 25, celebrated the vibrant stories and traditions conveyed through folkdance.

Participants Spotlight Cultural Legacy at the Festival

Siddhesh Mestry from India spoke on the importance of engaging youth in preserving cultural traditions. “Events like this promote and encourage the youth to participate and learn about different cultures,” he remarked.

Similarly, Mexican dancer Itza Marcor saw the festival as a symbol of unity and global peace. “Everyone united—it sends a message itself,” she said.

For Bulgarian participant Maria Krastinkova, the festival offered a platform to tell detailed stories about folklore through dance.

She and her fellow Bulgarian dancer, Kaloyan Hristov, spent a year preparing for their performance. “For us, it means a lot to be here,” Hristov shared.

Slovakian dancer Radovan Holub noted on the festival’s role in fostering cultural exchange. “Festivals like this are important to meet new cultures and people. We can share knowledge from our folk groups,” Holub stated.

Participants from various countries delivered powerful performances that captured the essence of their heritage, blending artistry with storytelling.

Through vibrant costumes and intricate movements, dancers conveyed unique narratives that transcended borders.
