With the formal introduction of the Child Protection Information Management System Plus (CPIMS+), a digital breakthrough that will revolutionize the way vulnerable children are identified, assisted, and monitored nationwide, Mali has taken a daring step toward reinventing its child protection services.
For child protection experts, the new platform offers a data-driven, consolidated, and secure case management system that enables real-time communication between service providers and institutions. While upholding stringent confidentiality and data protection guidelines, CPIMS+ facilitates automatic referrals, coordinated follow-ups, and smooth information exchange.
Developed with the support of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and theGerman Embassy in Mali, the initiative underscores Mali’s growing commitment to leveraging digital tools to modernize public services and ensure more inclusive social development.
“CPIMS+ offers us the ability to track and support vulnerable children with greater efficiency, transparency, and security,” officials said during the launch. “It empowers social workers and institutions to respond faster and smarter.”
The system is designed to streamline the work of child protection actors at both local and national levels, creating a reliable infrastructure for managing sensitive cases, ensuring that no child falls through the cracks due to a lack of coordination or delayed action.
The platform also fits with the nation’s larger digital transformation strategy, which aims to improve institutional efficiency across social sectors. As the system is implemented nationwide, Mali joins an increasing number of nations investing in digital solutions to protect the most vulnerable members of society its children.
Experts predict that this innovation will have a long-term impact on protecting children’s rights in Mali.
