A Busia court has sentenced 55-year-old Mwaura Mumbi to 50 years in prison or a fine of Ksh 50 million after she was found guilty of trafficking 3.9 kilograms of heroin.

Mumbi was arrested on March 10, 2023, at the Busia One Border Point in possession of heroin valued at Ksh 11,808,000.

The prosecution presented ten witnesses and substantial evidence, leading to her conviction under Section 4(a)(ii) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act No. 4 of 2022.
