The Kano State Government has earmarked N2.5 billion for its quarterly mass wedding initiative across the state’s 44 local government areas in 2025. This allocation is part of the state’s broader plan to invest N91.32 billion in governance and service delivery sectors, aiming to enhance social welfare and development.
Musa Shanono, the State Commissioner for Planning and Budget, announced the allocation during the presentation of the 2025 budget breakdown, recently passed by the State House of Assembly.
He emphasized that the mass wedding program seeks to promote responsibility, transparency, and human rights, contributing to a fair society that supports sustainable growth and improves citizens’ living standards.
In addition to the mass wedding funding, the budget includes allocations for other social programs:
- N1 billion for Ramadan feeding
- N955 million for a manpower statistics survey, general household survey, and out-of-school children statistics
These initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to addressing social issues and enhancing the welfare of its citizens.
