ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast – President Alassane Ouattara, aged 83, has indicated his willingness to run for a fourth term, though his party has not yet made an official decision on its candidate for the October 2025 election.

Speaking to the diplomatic corps in Abidjan on Thursday, Ouattara stated, “I am in good health and eager to continue serving my country,” marking his clearest signal of intent to date.

Ouattara was re-elected for a controversial third term in 2020, despite debates over constitutional term limits. While he has previously expressed a desire to step down, he has suggested this might depend on whether his long-standing political rivals also withdraw from politics.
