Ghana’s Black Stars Triumph Over Madagascar in World Cup Qualifiers
AL HOCEIMA, Morocco – March 25, 2025
Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, delivered a commanding performance against Madagascar, securing a 3-0 victory in their quest for a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This win propels Ghana to the top of Group I in the African qualifiers, reinforcing their ambitions for a fifth World Cup appearance.
The fixture, held at the Grand Stade Al Hoceima in Morocco, showcased Ghana’s dominance from the outset. Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a powerful header, capitalizing on a precise cross from Jordan Ayew.

Partey doubled the lead in the 54th minute, replicating his earlier success with another header assisted by Ayew. West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus sealed the victory in the 59th minute, demonstrating clinical finishing to make it 3-0.
Under the guidance of head coach Otto Addo and technical adviser Winfried Schäfer, appointed earlier this year to revitalize Ghana’s football fortunes, the team exhibited tactical prowess and cohesion. Schäfer, renowned for leading Cameroon to the African title in 2002, brings a wealth of experience to the squad.

The Black Stars are slated to face Chad on September 1, 2025, followed by a home match against Mali on September 8, 2025.
Ghana’s emphatic win over Madagascar not only boosts their standing in the World Cup qualifiers but also reignites the nation’s football aspirations. With experienced leadership and a talented roster, the Black Stars are poised to shine on the global stage once more.
