FirstBank of Nigeria is gearing up to host its much-anticipated 6th annual Fintech Summit, themed “Banking on Partnerships,” set to take place on November 13 and 14, 2024. This year’s event promises to unite a powerhouse lineup of global experts, entrepreneurs, and industry innovators to explore financial technology’s most pressing trends and developments.
In a bold move to support early-stage fintech startups, FirstBank is launching the “Fintech Innovators Pitch Programme” at the summit. This initiative will offer selected startups a valuable combination of training, mentorship, and the opportunity to pitch their ideas to a panel of distinguished judges, including investors and industry leaders. Winners will receive strategic support from FirstBank, access to crucial resources, and extensive networking opportunities that could be game-changing for these budding innovators.
According to FirstBank’s Managing Director and CEO, Olusegun Alebiosu, the summit and pitch program aim to foster “innovation and collaboration within the financial services ecosystem.”
The event’s keynote sessions, roundtable discussions, fireside chats, and masterclasses will offer invaluable insights and networking potential for all attendees. Emmanuel Daniel, founder of TAB Global, is among the prominent speakers set to share his expertise, alongside notable figures like Xpress Payment Solutions’ Dr. (Mrs.) Markie Idowu and Remita’s ’DeRemi Atanda.
The summit will also feature a high-stakes pitch session on November 13, where early-stage fintech startups will present their solutions to a panel of judges and potential investors. Winners, announced on November 14, will gain the resources and strategic guidance needed to propel their ideas to market.
The pitch program comes with specific eligibility criteria: participating startups must be in the early stages, from idea development to early revenue, and able to attend in-person pitch prep sessions in Lagos. Applications closed on October 27, and shortlisted candidates were announced on November 4.
