A Tesla Cybertruck explosion outside President-elect Donald Trump’s Las Vegas hotel on Wednesday killed a suspect inside the vehicle and injured seven bystanders.
Firework mortars and camp fuel canisters were discovered in the truck, rented through the Turo app, sparking a federal investigation into potential terrorism.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police and the FBI are working to identify the deceased and determine the explosion’s motive.
Video footage, provided by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, traced the Cybertruck’s arrival to Las Vegas and its entry into the Trump International Hotel’s valet area. The blast occurred just seconds after the truck parked, shooting debris vertically.
Musk confirmed via X that the explosion stemmed from large fireworks or a bomb in the truck bed and clarified that the incident was unrelated to the vehicle itself.
President Joe Biden was briefed on the matter, while investigators are examining any links to a separate New Orleans truck attack earlier the same day.
Eyewitness accounts describe multiple explosions, with flames engulfing the silver Cybertruck. Authorities are not ruling out connections between the Las Vegas blast, global attacks, and political implications.
