Etihad Airways and Ethiopian Airlines have officially activated their new codeshare agreement, a move set to significantly strengthen air connectivity between Africa and key destinations in Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
The bilateral partnership, which builds on the strategic Joint Venture agreement signed in March 2025, is now live, with seats already available for booking. The collaboration is expected to enhance global travel options for passengers across both networks.

As part of the new partnership, Ethiopian Airlines will launch direct services between Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD) and Zayed International Airport (AUH) in Abu Dhabi starting July 15, 2025. In parallel, Etihad Airways will begin daily flights to Addis Ababa from October 8, 2025.
The codeshare agreement allows passengers to book seamless itineraries that feature a single booking and check-in process, with baggage automatically transferred to the final destination. This streamlining of the travel experience aims to improve convenience for customers across both airline networks.

Ethiopian Airlines customers will now gain access to Etihad-operated routes through Abu Dhabi, enabling onward connections to 20 key destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. These include major cities such as Sydney, Krabi, Colombo, and Phnom Penh.
The implementation of this codeshare marks the first phase of a broader collaboration between the two carriers. The upcoming full Joint Venture is expected to further unlock greater travel and commercial opportunities for both airlines and their passengers in the months ahead.
