In the men’s category, 23-year-old newcomer Bute Gemechu triumphed with an impressive finish time of 02:04:51. Despite his limited experience in international competitions, Gemechu’s victory underscored his immense potential and secured him a well-deserved spotlight on the global stage.
The women’s race concluded with a dramatic finish as Bedatu Hirpa overtook her compatriot Dera Dida in the final stretch.
Hirpa crossed the line at 02:18:27, marking a world-leading time and a personal best, while Dida followed closely at 02:18:31. Hirpa celebrated her career’s most significant win, while Dida appeared disheartened after narrowly missing the title.
