Cairo, Egypt — Egypt and Eritrea have reaffirmed their unwavering support for Somalia’s sovereignty, opposing any unilateral interference in the country’s internal affairs.

This stance was emphasized during a joint press conference held on Saturday, featuring Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh Mohammed, and Somalia’s Foreign Minister Ahmed Moalim Fiqi.

“Egypt and Eritrea will provide all possible support for Somalia to regain control of its entire territory,” Abdelatty declared, spotlighting their commitment to Somalia’s territorial integrity.

Plans for Military and Security Cooperation

The discussions included bolstering Somalia’s military capabilities to combat terrorism and strengthen national unity.

The three nations underscored their shared commitment to securing the Horn of Africa and stabilizing the region.

Red Sea Security and Regional Stability

The diplomats also explored enhancing cooperation among Red Sea states, focusing on safeguarding the vital maritime corridor.

Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s position on Red Sea security, stressing, “Security in the Red Sea should remain the responsibility of the bordering countries. We do not accept any foreign military presence in the region.”

Additionally, the meeting addressed efforts to preserve Sudan’s unity and advance regional initiatives aimed at fostering peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.

With these collective efforts, Egypt, Eritrea, and Somalia are forging stronger alliances to secure the region and combat shared threats. Will this strengthened partnership yield lasting peace and security for the Horn of Africa?
