The Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, praised the significant progress in bilateral relations between Egypt and China across various sectors in recent years in a meeting today held with the Chinese Special Envoy on the Middle East Issue, Zhai Jun. The Minister of Foreign Affairs also emphasized Egypt’s enthusiasm to continue working with China to elevate bilateral ties between the two nations.

He further praised China’s contributions to infrastructure development in Egypt, like the Financial and Business District in the New Administrative Capital and the towers in New Alamein City, and the development of the Egypt-China Economic Zone within the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone). The minister also informed the Chinese envoy on Cairo’s mediation efforts, alongside the United States and Qatar, to reach a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, stressing the key importance of boosting the delivery of much-needed humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip to help ease the current Humanitarian crisis affecting the people of Palestine.

He also took the opportunity to reaffirm Egypt’s strong rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land and praised China’s position in supporting Palestine’s cause, and reaffirmed Egypt’s interest in strengthening its partnership with China to support the people of Palestine and their legitimate rights to establish an independent state
