Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Badr Abdel Aty, recently attended the closing ceremony of a groundbreaking training program organized by the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping, and Peacebuilding (CCCPA).
This initiative, conducted in Chad in partnership with the Chadian Ministries of Security, Migration, Justice, and Human Rights, focused on addressing cross-border security challenges, including combating human trafficking, terrorism, and irregular migration.
The ceremony saw the participation of Chadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdelrahman Ghulamallah and General Ali Ahmed Agbash, Minister of Security and Migration.
In his remarks, Abdel Aty spotlighted the significance of this first-of-its-kind program in Chad, designed to bolster the capabilities of Chadian personnel in managing border security, migration, and displacement issues while countering cross-border threats.
He brought to light Egypt’s unwavering commitment to sharing expertise and enhancing the capacity of Chadian institutions across diverse sectors. Abdel Aty also illuminated the necessity of resilience in managing the rising numbers of displaced persons due to terrorism, conflicts, and humanitarian crises, especially in the Sahel and Horn of Africa regions.
Egypt and Chad are both key host nations for displaced individuals from Sudan, which underscores their shared responsibility in tackling these challenges. Abdel Aty accentuated the importance of regional cooperation in addressing the root causes of crises while promoting security and sustainable development.
He also showcased Egypt’s success in combating human trafficking and irregular migration on regional and global platforms, expressing Egypt’s willingness to share its strategies with other African nations.
Highlighting the potential for Egypt-Chad collaboration, the minister emphasized the importance of fostering closer ties to address shared challenges. He called for frameworks that align with the aspirations of their peoples and promote development and cooperation.
This training program serves as a model of constructive bilateral partnership, which Abdel Aty encouraged expanding into other critical sectors. Egypt’s steadfast support for Chad in addressing cross-border threats, empowering institutions, and driving sustainable development reflects a strong foundation for future cooperation.
By building on the success of this initiative, Egypt and Chad can enhance their partnership and tackle mutual challenges more effectively, paving the way for lasting regional stability and development.
