Authorities in Minya, Upper Egypt, confirmed on Thursday that a cruise ship carrying 59 tourists has been successfully refloated after running aground in the Nile River near Beni Mazar.
The ship, Crown Vision, was traveling from the Marina of Akhenaten in Minya to Beni Suef Governorate when the incident occurred. Among its passengers were 57 German and 2 French tourists.
Thankfully, Minya authorities assured that all passengers and crew remained safe throughout the ordeal.
In a video released by the Minya governorate, the cruise ship was seen resuming its journey after the successful operation. Governor Emad Kodwani highlighted that necessary safety checks were conducted to ensure the wellbeing of everyone on board before the ship set off again.
The refloating process was executed using a specialized tugboat, supervised closely by executive and security officials.
