Chester Zoo has officially unveiled its largest and most ambitious attraction, the Heart of Africa exhibit, designed to transport visitors into the heart of the African wilderness. Spanning 22.5 acres, the new space will showcase over 57 threatened species, reinforcing the zoo’s commitment to global wildlife conservation.

The exhibit replicates the savannas, wetlands, and forests of Central Africa, providing a naturalistic habitat for giraffes, zebras, rhinos, flamingos, and rare antelopes. Additionally, visitors will get a close-up view of Africa’s lesser-known creatures in Hidden Savannah, an indoor area featuring red spitting cobras, pygmy mice, and other fascinating species.

Beyond offering an immersive experience, the Heart of Africa exhibit plays a crucial role in conservation efforts. Chester Zoo is actively involved in African wildlife protection programs, funding anti-poaching initiatives and breeding programs for endangered species. A portion of the attraction’s revenue will support these conservation projects across the continent.
