The Basketball Africa League (BAL) will host its annual Combine in Rabat, Morocco, from January 10 to 12, 2025.

Taking place at the Ibn Yassine Omnisports Hall, the three-day event will spotlight over 30 players from Africa, Europe, the U.S., and beyond.

Participants will undergo athletic assessments, refine their positional skills, and compete in 5-on-5 games before team executives, coaches, and scouts. Coaches from the Africa Coaches Program, held at the NBA 2K25 Summer League in Las Vegas, will form part of the coaching staff.

On January 10, the league will also host a BAL4HER camp to foster the growth of female athletes. This initiative will bring together 20 U-23 prospects from Rabat’s local communities for a day of development and empowerment.

BAL4HER aims to promote gender equity in African sports and honor women serving as role models across the industry. Additionally, a coaching clinic for 100 local coaches will be held to elevate the sport at the grassroots level.

Fifth BAL Season to Tip Off in Rabat

The BAL’s landmark fifth season begins on April 5, 2025, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat and concludes with the Finals on June 14 at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria, South Africa.

This season marks the first BAL games in Morocco and the inaugural Finals in South Africa. Twelve of Africa’s best club teams will play 48 games across Rabat, Dakar (Senegal), Kigali (Rwanda), and Pretoria.

Teams will compete in three conferences, each with four teams. The group phases are set as follows:

  • Kalahari Conference: April 5–13 in Rabat, Morocco
  • Sahara Conference: April 26–May 4 at Dakar Arena, Senegal
  • Nile Conference: May 17–25 at BK Arena, Kigali, Rwanda

The top eight teams will advance to the Playoffs in Pretoria, starting June 6, with the Finals set for June 14.
