Nigerian singer, and Afrobeats star Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, better known by her stage name Ayra Starr, has made history by winning the Best International Act at the 2025 BET Awards . The 2025 BET Awards, which honor Black excellence in music, film, sports, and culture, took place on Monday, June 9 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, USA.
The 22-year-old Marvin Records artist was among the many celebrities honored for their contributions to Black excellence in music, and she is now the youngest Nigerian to win the BET Best International Act category.
Since her initial nomination in 2022, she has received nominations in multiple categories, including Best New International Act (2022), Best International Act (2023), BET Her Award (2024 for “Commas”), and three categories in 2025.
