
The 2025 Met Gala is considered one of fashion’s biggest nights of the year. It just concluded with the theme ‘Superfine Tailoring black Style,’ and the African continent was heavily displayed, from stars to inspired looks to designers and unique African fabrics.
- Nigerian star Tems in Oswald Boateng
Tems’ outfit, as designed by Ghanaian Fashion Designer Oswald Boateng, features a mixture of beautiful and dynamic African print, and the inspiration behind the outfit was ‘modern feminine woman meets black dandyism’

- Oswald Boateng Designs
The Ghanaian fashion designer, known for his trademark twist on classic tailoring and bespoke styles, had a lot of designs featured on fashion’s biggest nights. Stars and Mega stars like Burna Boy, Tems, Issa Rae, Colin Kaepernick, Nessa Diab, Wearing, Jayden Smith, Omar Sy, Henry Golding, and so much more stepped out in beautiful and bespoke Oswald Boateng designs.

- Post Imperial Designs
The international brand founded by Nigerian national Niiyi Okuboyejo and known for distinct fabrics and intricate designs, and patterns delivered on their promise on the steps of the Met with designs worn by the beautiful Taraji P. Henson and so much more.

- Eleven Sixteen
This creative didn’t just make an appearance but an impact as well, the Eleven Sixteen designer Ugo Mozie’s journey from Enugu, Nigeria to the Met with his signature fusion of tradition and Innovation with stunning pieces and creative pieces on the legendary Diana Ross. It was truly a highlight of the night

- Orange Culture
Bryan Tree Henry looked more than superfine, sporting a look from Nigerian designer Orange Culture, founded by Nigerian fashion genius Adebayo Oke Lawal. Brian brought the true essence of Black dandyism in a maroon suit and brocade cape.

- Hanifa
Hanifa brought superfine tailoring in a truly unique way to fashion’s biggest night in a piece worn by Sanannah James, the striped maroon corset jacket and skirt with a massive fish-tail. The outfit from the Congolese-owned brand deserved high praise indeed.


- Deji and Kola
Dapper and Superfine was how Jonathan Owens looked in his immaculately tailored white suit by Deji and Kola, a Nigerian fashion label focused on quality and creativity and renowned for its menswear.

- EE72
Owned by the former Ghanaian, British Vogue editor in chief had one of their pieces on full display on fashion’s biggest night by the beautiful and talented Serena Williams, who looked like a modern-day fairytale princess.

The night had other impactful and stunning displays of African culture, like Ayo Edebiri’s outfit and its nod to her Edo heritage with gorgeous coral beads accenting her dress. Damson Idris, Ayra Starr, Chimamanda, Dynast, and Soul Ogun, and so much more also walked the carpet for the 2025 Met.
Their impact and presence were indisputable, demonstrating that their presence is a message rather than just a matter of style. A reminder that Africa is dominating the world’s fashion landscape, not merely influencing it.
