The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) has officially announced that its 2025 Annual Meetings will be held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from May 26 to May 30, gathering leaders and stakeholders from across the continent to tackle pressing economic and development challenges. The meetings, which mark the 60th session of the AfDB and the 50th of the African Development Fund, are expected to draw hundreds of delegates, including finance ministers, central bank governors, investors, and development experts.
Under the theme “Making Africa’s Capital Work Better for Africa’s Development,” the forum will focus on unlocking domestic and international financial flows to boost sustainable growth across African economies. As Africa continues to confront global economic headwinds, high debt, and climate shocks, the event presents an opportunity to strategize on improving financial systems, mobilizing private sector investment, and enhancing public sector efficiency.
Key sessions will address capital market development, climate finance, digital innovation, and regional trade integration. With Côte d’Ivoire hosting for the second time in a decade, the choice of Abidjan reaffirms its role as a financial and diplomatic hub in West Africa. 
As Africa looks toward a future of greater financial autonomy and inclusive prosperity, the 2025 AfDB Annual Meetings in Abidjan promise to be a critical platform for shaping policy, attracting investment, and strengthening cooperation. The decisions made there may chart the next phase of Africa’s economic rise.
