A new chapter in Africa’s energy adventure is being written in Tanzania’s vibrant coastal metropolis of Dar es Salaam. The Africa Technology Conference (ATC), which is taking place at the Hyatt Regency from May 27 to 29, 2025, will turn East Africa’s economic center into a continental center of creativity, cooperation, and strategic vision.

The 2025 edition, organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Africa, has as its theme “Navigating the Future: Building Technological Excellence for Sustainable Energy in Africa.” It brings together more than 500 delegates from more than 20 countries, laying the groundwork for a vibrant exchange of ideas that positions Africa as a leader in sustainable, technology-driven energy transformation.

ATC 2025 represents this ambition. From AI-powered solutions to geothermal advances, the event’s goal is bold and clear: Africa must not only catch up but also lead.
Workshops on environmental innovation, local content creation, and digital transformation are grounded in practical realities rather than merely being theoretical. Young engineers and businesses are already developing low-cost, high-impact energy solutions for marginalized areas in Tanzania, Kenya, and Nigeria.
The exhibition floor buzzes with proof: smart hydrogen innovations from East Africa, solar businesses from Rwanda, AI modeling tools developed in Lagos, and more. It is a showcase for Pan-African innovation driven by intelligence and based on local requirements.

It is noteworthy that Tanzania is hosting this year’s ATC. With its abundance of hydroelectric and natural gas resources, the nation is establishing itself as a key participant in Africa’s transition to renewable energy. Tanzania is quickly becoming an example of what energy innovation based on national growth may look like, thanks to programs centered on digital infrastructure, sustainable energy expansion, and regional cooperation.
