In a devastating incident near Ronald Reagan National Airport, a PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ700, operating as an American Airlines flight, collided midair with a U.S. Army Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter around 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Federal Aviation Administration reported that the passenger plane was en route from Wichita, Kansas, carrying 60 passengers and four crew members, while the military helicopter had three personnel on board.

Tragically, all 67 individuals are presumed dead, with 28 bodies recovered so far. Washington Fire Chief John Donnelly announced the transition from a rescue to a recovery operation, indicating the unlikelihood of finding survivors.
